The release dates for all of these will most likely not be set in stone for awhile. However, that doesn't mean we can't look forward to their release, however long it may take.

Antebellum

Plot: A successful author finds herself in a horrifying reality and must figure out the mystery behind it before it is too late.

Little is known about this upcoming horror besides its vague one-sentence plot and it's even more vague (and exceptionally creepy) trailers. Even so, if the producers of Get Out and Us produced this, then it must be set to be the next great horror film in our current golden age of psycho-horrors.

The Batman

Plot: It's election year in Gotham and someone has been killing off candidates one-by-one, leaving behind riddles after each homicide. This story of Batman will take place in Bruce Wayne's second year of dawning the identity of Batman and will be a noir-driven storyline.

Batman has always been one of my favorite superheros, and nobody expects this to live up to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy which is rightfully called the greatest superhero trilogy of all time. However, Christopher Reeves is completely rebooting Batman back into his original comic-book roots, as "The World's Greatest Detective." I'll bet you didn't know that DC used to stand for "Detective Comics" and that Batman was first-and-foremost a Sherlock Holmes-style detective, leaving his ass-kicking skills as more of a last resort.

This movie will have more Joker-style themes than Justice League-style themes (thank god) and will focus on the early career of Bruce Wayne. The cast is what excites me the most, with Robert Pattinson set to take on the titular role of Bruce Wayne (Yes, I think he'll kill it because he's actually a good actor), Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman (perfect casting if you ask me), Andy Serkis as Afred Pennyworth (He's not wearing a motion-capture suit for once), Colin Farrell as The Penguin (He's not Danny Devito but I'll hear him out), Paul Dano as The Riddler (the main antagonist I believe), and finally we have Jeffrey Wright as Detective James Gordon (My favorite casting choice, I am such a big fan of his).

The New Mutants

Plot: Set to be the last installment of the X-Men Series, the story follows five young mutants as they begin to discover their abilities while being held in a secret facility against their will, fighting to escape their past sins and save themselves.

I feel bad for everyone who has been apart of this film, because it's been in development hell for years. I mean the teaser trailer for it came out almost 2 years ago. Finally, it is being set to be released later this year (hopefully). It's going to tackle one of my favorite new sub-genres of movies - superhero horror. We are currently in the golden age of superhero movies and the golden age of horrors, so why not combine the two? I think this could be a hell of a ride and I hope it ends up being good for the studio's sake.

The Many Saints of Newark

Plot: A look at the formative years of New Jersey gangster, Tony Soprano.

Oh baby, a prequel movie for the series that is unanimously considered the greatest television show ever created? Get me some gabagool because I must be dreaming. David Chase, the creator of The Sopranos wrote the script and has many collaborators from the show coming back to help. The best part? The son of James Gandolfini, the late great actor who played Tony Soprano, will be starring as the young Tony Soprano. It's only fitting, and he just has that Tony Soprano look. I am very confident he will do his father justice.

Dune

Plot: I read the novel but it's hard to fully explain, but essentially it's Game of Thrones meets Star Wars.

This is my most anticipated film. It's based off what is considered the greatest sci-fi novels of all time and is going to be directed by one of the greatest working directors, Denis Villeneuve (he directed Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, Prisoners, and Sicario). Want me to get you even more excited? It stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Dave Bauista, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, and Javier Bardem. Combine that with the fact that Hans Zimmer is composing the score and you've got what I will consider to be the next Star Wars. It has all the ingredients of being the next big blockbuster sci-fi on par with Star Wars and Star Trek, but I'm hoping the world is ready for this space opera and won't snub it in favor of whatever Fast & Furious movie is out at the moment.

BIOS

Plot: An ailing inventor, the last man on Earth, builds an android to keep him and his dog company and goes on a journey across the country.

You put Tom Hanks in anything and I'll watch it, he's earned that as one of the greatest actors of all time. This movie will follow Tom Hanks across post-apocalyptic America with his dog and Android friend. I'm guessing it will tackle themes of AI-consciousness and the human spirit, but either way it is sure to be a heartwarming and refreshing film that will combine I Am Legend with Ex Machina themes into one original story.

After Yang

Plot: In a world where robotic children are purchased as live-in babysitters, a father and daughter attempt to save the life of their robotic family member, Yang, who has become unresponsive.

All you A24 fans rejoice at a fresh new movie based on the acclaimed short story, Saying Goodbye to Yang. Directed by Korean director, Kogonada (who already established himself as a master storyteller with his first film Columbus), this film will star Colin Farrell and Jodie Turner-Smith and will be heavily focused on AI themes with a very emotional touch. A24 films rarely miss and the plot is right up the alley for a sci-fi nerd such as myself.

Shang-Chi: and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Plot: The plot details are currently unknown, but this will be the first Asian-led superhero movie centered around Shang-Chi the "Master of Kung-Fu".

There are few upcoming Marvel movies that get me that excited, since Avengers: Endgame was the peak of Marvel, such I assume it will only go down from here. However, when they announced they'd bring the master of kung-fu himself to life with an Asian-led cast, I was ecstatic. It has kung-fu movie legends attached and will introduce Simu Liu as the new Marvel superhero whose main superpower is that he simply kicks a lot of ass. That's my cup of tea right there.

Last Night in Soho

Plot: A young girl, passionate about fashion design, is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it seems and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences.

Edgar Wright has cemented himself as one of the most creative and innovative directors of our time. With films Baby Driver, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and Shaun of the Dead, he has created a knack for creative and visually-pleasing stories. This new one is apparently inspired by British psycho-thrillers like Repulsion and Don't Look Now. This will surely have some creepy, Roman Polansky vibes to it but with Wright's trademark editing and visual appeal. It will star Jojo Rabbit breakout star Thomasin McKenzie, as well as Anya Taylor-Joy from the Split and Glass movies and Matt Smith of Doctor Who fame. I have eagerly awaited Edgar Wright's return to the big screen ever since Baby Driver, so this is a big deal for me.

The Last Duel

Plot: A woman claims she's been raped by her husband's best friend, Jean de Carrouges. But when no one believes her accusation, her husband challenges his friend to a duel, the last legally sanctioned duel in the country's history and set during King Charles VI's reign.

First off, can we point out Adam Driver looking hilariously awesome in his knight armor. Anyways, I was very confused when I heard about this movie, but upon looking closer, I can tell it could be a damn good period piece. It will be directed by Ridley Scott and will star Matt Damon and Adam Driver, with Ben Affleck playing King Charles VI. There is a lot than can go right and wrong with this film, with the biggest being the fact that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, two super Boston dudes, have to convince us that they are British or French or whatever I don't know what exactly is going on but I want to watch it happen.

Tenet

Plot: An operative, played by John David Washington, of the organization known as Tenet is tasked with preventing World War III through a method of time travel known as time inversion.

Please god, let this movie be released already. I will risk getting coronavirus and lock myself in quarantine for however long it takes. Just let me see this movie. As a die hard and intolerable Christopher Nolan fanboy, I will not find peace until I get to see this movie on an IMAX screen.
